Magaluf Factfile -

Location: South-western Mallorca (Majorca), Balearic Islands, Spain.

Magaluf History: Although Magaluf (Magalluf) is mostly a purpose built holiday resort the area around it does have a long history. Original settlements date back to about 4000 BC and were located in natural caves which exist along the coastline of Mallorca, later settlers built inland dwellings of stone called 'Talaiots'. The early settlers would have lived from the sea and no doubt been expert fishermen.

Overview: Magaluf has for many years been the major tourist resort for British visitors to Mallorca (Majorca), it has developed as a slick holiday destination and has a range of attractions and facilities to suit all age groups and tastes, during the summer months it mostly attracts the younger generation, couples and 18-30's, who visit to enjoy the vibrant nightlife, friendly bars, the fine sandy beaches and long hours of sunshine. During the winter Magaluf quietens down somewhat and tends to attract middle-aged and elderly visitors who come to escape the damp, cold weather of the UK and northern Europe. The lively nightlife is perhaps what Magaluf is generally known for and it provides some of the best on offer in the entire Mediterranean region, with hundreds of pubs, clubs and discos. For those seeking something other than night-time entertainment there are some fine sandy beaches, watersports facilities, golf courses, aquaparks and a host of other attractions on offer. One of the best known attractions is the Pirates Adventure - a show which has attracted over 3 million visitors since it began, and definately one for your 'must see' list. Other attractions include a bungee rocket, go-kart racing, horseback riding and various water sports including SCUBA, Jet skiing and wind surfing. If you are looking for a resort which provides endless sunshine, sandy beaches, a buzzing atmosphere and a sizzling, vibrant nightlife then Magaluf could be just the place for you, if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday, you would be best advised to look elsewhere.
